The XIV World Water Congress of the International Water Resources Association is a global meeting for water resources decision-makers, researchers and practitioners. It was held in Porto de Galinhas, Pernambuco Brazil, from September 25 – 29, 2011.

Approx. 70 oral sessions and 35 poster sessions, organized in five themes, provided the overall structure for the Congress:

* Adaptive water management
* Water resources and global change
* Governance and water law
* Knowledge systems
* Special sessions
